House under oaks

Eichgraben

The single-family home in Eichgraben was designed as a low-budget passive house for a young family. On a minimalistic basement, a wooden structure resting on 6 pillars protrudes from the slope and offers a living area of about 100 m². The entire structure was built from prefabricated wooden elements with a 60 cm thick wood wool insulation. The entire interior is also made of local wood and additionally covered with pigmented white oil. A heat pump with a ground collector, a controlled ventilation system with heat recovery and the photovoltaic modules installed on the roof complete a perfect energy concept, which requires only a minimum of external energy. The house thus represents a prototype for low-cost living on lowest energy consumption.
